Backyard football

Max is so into football right now. He will spend hours in the backyard, hiking the ball to himself, throwing it up in the air, and then making the diving catch to score a touchdown. It’s really pretty adorable. What I love the most though is watching Ava play football with Max. Ava’s really an awesome sister… anything Max loves, she loves too. She will happily play paper football with him, draw NFL team logos, and even play tackle football in the backyard with him.

You’d think that because she’s two years younger than he is, that she’d have a hard time keeping up with him. You’d be wrong though… this girl is tough! And it makes me super happy to watch them happily playing tackle football in the backyard instead of sitting inside playing video games. I’m so thankful for all the great weather we’ve had so far this fall that allows them to play in the backyard! Pretty soon, they’ll be tackling each other in living room…

This post is part of a collective project called Childhood Unplugged. We’re a group of moms documenting our intentional efforts of encouraging technology free play for our kids. I hope you’ll join us! You can view my post from last month here and follow us on Facebook here!

That's awesome that she is such a sport! Good for her! You can see how tuff she is in these images. Keeping right up with him. Go girl! That last image just yells out SUBURBIA!

Your Max is like my Matthew with soccer. I'm looking forward to when my younger two rascals are big enough to play with him rather than just steal the ball and run away laughing while he throws a fit...haha! And yay for tough little sisters who can keep up with her brother. I've got three older brothers so bumps and bruises were a regular part of life growing up.

Ha ha... She had always kept up with her big brother... I think she doesn't know he's two years older :)
