Simple Ideas for Happy Family Traveling – Road Trippin’ Car Packs

We are SO excited to be heading off on our epic summer adventure later this week!! Right now, we are busy busy busy getting packed up and prepared for our month long adventure. I wanted to share with you our road trippin’ car packs. I picked up these clear plastic containers at Target and I fill them with various goodies to keep the kids occupied in the car. (Note: I got the inspiration here).

They stack nicely in the backseat in between Max and Ava’s carseats and they work surprisingly well to keep all their activity books contained! I usually get some of the same things for every road trip and then I try to find a few new things as well. Some of our staples are atlases, doodle books & markers, and the ever-popular ‘Play Packs’ (you can find these at Walmart or Target for around $1). For this trip, I also picked up other random coloring and activity books, stationery sets, and I’m throwing in their learning workbooks (and Bob Books for Lia).

In the past, I’ve just picked up whatever I could find at Target. We are planning a LONG trip this time around, so we ran all over town looking for fun things. I hit up Walmart, Target, Michaels, Party City, and Dollar Tree, in search of fun (and cheap) activity books and goodies.car packs for kids on road trips

Those containers are the perfect size, where did you find them?

@happyfammvmt  Thank you!  We are driving from CO to northern CA in 2 weeks, and these will be perfect to keep the kiddos occupied!

We travel with our 5 kids all the time, and believe me, keeping them occupied is a priority. Not having more kids is another priority. We make sure we have lots of audiobooks on their ipods. It's so much better than having them watch a dvd. There are lots of great sites to download them, but we use this site a lot because it's free and the stories are all original. This is the link if anyone is interested. http://www.twirlygirlshop.com/short-stories-for-kids
